tonne gramme are hiring
October 20th, 2011

We are finding ourselves very busy of late with plenty of exciting projects on the table, and are in need of some extra hands on the tools at tonne gramme. We are looking for an experienced freelance web developer to regularly spend some time in our studio building things to be on screens.

A working day with us would involve flexing a knowledge of html, css and javascript to build beautiful, functional websites around the WordPress CMS. We expect to design and develop impressive, rewarding website experiences, driven by purpose and communicating clearly. More than the zeros and ones, we’re looking for someone a bit excitable, with a bag of tricks they’ve been wanting to break out. We’re all for butting our heads together to come up with something brilliant.

If this sounds like the work you would like to be doing, we would love to peruse a digital folio and CV. Please pass it on to russ@tonnegramme.com.

PORTAL+ZEKKA Launches
September 20th, 2011

Late nights of brushing ink about and coarsening everything to grains went into the earnest plough toward creating the branding and graphics for Portal+Zekka – Perth’s newest independent gallery.

The project’s guiding principle is to not be confined to showing work of a particular or defined discipline. Rather, Portal+Zekka seek to present and promote work that has engaged the owners from the fields of design, art and fashion. This is the latest venture from Zekka – Perth’s purveyors of immaculate clothing and design objects. After recently presenting Diane Pernet’s A Shaded View on Fashion Film Festival and exhibiting Graham Tabor and Miguel VillalobosHic Et Nunc in Zekka’s King Street space, Portal+Zekka opens its doors in Mosman Park to present Collecting Intimacy, an exhibition of sculpture and installation by Mary Hardy. The exhibition runs from 21 September through to 18 October.

Stina – Summers in Mariana
August 9th, 2011

Stina – Vanilla by ROOM40

Earlier this year we spent a fair bit of time with Summers In Mariana on high rotation in the studio. We were asked to create the artwork to accompany the sophomore release from Stina, and set about designing a package that matches the lovely compositions within. We’ve just put our work in the folio.

Summers In Mariana is released through Someone Good in Australia and can be purchased through their online store.

It’s time to blow this popsicle stand
July 29th, 2011

Ahh Leederville – you’ve been great. But after a year on Oxford Street we’ve decided we’re hittin’ the bricks. Not to fear though – we’ll be closing this Friday and opening again Monday at our new studio on Money Street, Northbridge.

The change of scenery lands us in a harbour of quietude pressed against the energetic bustle of William Street. We’re pretty excited about it all – the new fit-out, a couple of new tools we’re putting in our belts, and a courtyard for meetings and late Friday afternoon back patting.

So it’s business as usual, but in our fresh studio as of next week. Thank you for supporting tonne gramme thus far. We continue to be a little too excited about type, and paper, and html, and look forward to putting our hand to your next project.

Regards

Russ & Mick

TONNE GRAMME + PICA
June 24th, 2011

It’s not often enough you get to involve yourself in the inner workings of one of your all-time favourite institutions, but that’s just what we’ve had the opportunity to do over the past couple of months. Tonne gramme has been busy designing all of Perth Institute of Contemporary Art’s (PICA) communications, and we’ve been loving every contemporary minute of it. Keep an eye out for their upcoming exhibitions – we’re especially excited about the beautiful photography of Li Gang – In the grey scale, opening 9th of July.

Off to Market
April 29th, 2011

You’ll find Prana Health Food and Organics right by the mayhem of the Station Street Markets’ fruit-and-veg sellers hall – an oasis of sorts. Naturopath Amanda opened the store just last month, and offers a selection of organic food, nutritional supplements, enviro cleaning products, excellent naturopathic advice and heaps of other great stuff. We came on board to launch the venture and had a great time creating a logo and promo materials that captured Prana’s welcoming, knowledgable, environmentally conscious approach. Pay them a visit next time you’re getting a box of vegies.

The perplexed, frumpy brand
January 27th, 2011

Park goers and cultural event attendees might just find themselves crossing paths with this little fella this summer. Sunday Best is a wooden coffee cart wheeling its way to all the lovely places you might find yourself wanting a little pick-me-up. Working closely with owners Jackson and Ledita, the focus on extracting premium single origin coffees and a carefree, sunny day feel was clear. The challenges of creating an immediately adored and remarkable brand, and a method for contacting customers on a weekend morning about the temporary locations where the cart could be found was set, and – we like to think – met.  Photos will be on the folio quite soon, but do find out more at sundaybest.com.au.

Tonne gramme and The Village smash mediocrity
November 25th, 2010

Alongside fellow members of the Village collective, tonne gramme have recently found themselves living out childhood dreams whilst putting together a video for Test Tube. Fire, bricks and steel pipe all take leading roles in this film about the superiority of Test Tube’s objects in comparison to the cheap, generic alternatives. ‘Less Ordinary’ will be airing all day during the Beaufort Street Festival. Clips of the film coming soon.
