Lalla Rookh

Lalla Rookh is a bar, eating house and wine store tucked underground in the Heart of Perth’s CBD.

When approached to create a visual identity for the uniquely titled Lalla Rookh we were struck with a curiosity for where the name came from. It turns out there is a string of stories behind the place – a turn of the 19th century mine site, named after a Kalgoorlie show girl, who followed the gold rush from her homeland of Germany. There’s plenty of hearsay around the whole deal. The branding represents a bit of a dig into the matter, 120 year old Parish plans, typographic references to signage in the area, and lots of gritty, uncoated paper and coarse canvas for menus and stationery.

Lalla Rookh is serving up a brilliant menu and an array of beverages. Be sure to pull up a stool when you’re next on the terrace.
